Lismore Basketball is the largest and most progressive association on the North Coast, we’re dedicated to increasing participation rates and promoting our sport in Lismore and the wider Northern Rivers.

• We have 400+ players and 200+ spectators enter in to the stadium on a weekly basis.
• We have 160 players, referees and their families travelling throughout the state at a representative level.
• We are fortunate to have an incredibly active volunteer base involved in all aspects of our association.
• Our Volunteer Coaches positively promote team sport and fitness to school children through various programs starting at age 5.

The Board Responsibilities
- The Board of Lismore Basketball Association Inc is responsible to manage the Club on behalf of its members according to its Constitution and By-Laws & Regulations.
- The Board should operate as a team, draw on the skills and talents of each member, and work toward common goals to ensure the club success.
- Adhere to the LBA Mission Statement of, ‘Lismore Basketball Association provides basketball opportunities for all players in an accessible, positive, fair and safe environment. Lismore Basketball Association will also provide quality leadership promoting the values of teamwork, integrity and commitment; while developing skills at all levels and a life long love of the game.’
- Each Board member is required to:
- Attend all board & general meetings when available.
- Be available for all Club fundraising events when available.
- Be committed to Lismore Basketball before any other basketball club or association.
- Plan future directions and growth.
- Develop policies and procedures for stability.
- Regularly communicate with members and respond to feedback.
- Make decisions that are in the best interest of the Club and not for individual gain.
- Act as leadership role models.
- Directors of the Board are elected at the AGM in line with the constitution. In return for their service, LBAI will pay for their BNSW Registration for the time they are on the Board.
Director Positions & Duties
Directors of the Board are elected at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) with nominations called 31 days prior to the AGM. Each Director is elected for a term of 2 years, with 4 Directors retiring each even year and 5 Directors retiring each odd year. This ensures continuity and support for new Directors to the Board.
President
The Role of the President is to provide the principal leadership and responsibility for the organisation and the Board. It is a voluntary position and cannot be held in conjunction with any other office bearer position. Other duties include but not limited to:
Vice-President
The role of Vice-President is to assist the President & the other directors with the responsibility of the Association. It is a voluntary position and can not be held in conjunction with any other office bearer position. Duties include but are not limited to:
Secretary
The Role of Secretary is to be the main organiser for the business of the Board and directly receive & despatch all correspondence and communicate it with the Board. This is a voluntary position and can not be held in conjunction with any other officer bearer position. Duties include but are not limited to:
Treasurer
The role of Treasurer is to maintain all financial records of the Association and inform the Board of the current financial status of the Association. This position is voluntary and can not be held in conjunction with any other office bearer position. Duties include but are not limited to:
Public Officer
The role of Public Officer is to be a direct link to Fair Trading NSW and the Office of Sport to maintain our responsibilities as a not-for-profit organisation. This position is voluntary. Duties include but are not limited to:
Registrar
The Registrar is required to maintain all registrations for the Association via GameDay Basketball Network. Their duties include but are not limited to:
Player’s Representative
The primary responsibility of the Player’s Representative of the role is to ensure all relevant decision making includes the voice of players and their best interests, respectively, and provide a communitive link between players and the Board.
The Player Representative will be a representative of all local competition teams and players. Preferably a current player will fill this role. The duties include but are not limited to:
Merchandise coordinator
The Merchandise Coordinator is the primary contact for all LBA merchandise. This position is voluntary, and the duties include but are not limited to:
Policy Officer
The policy officer provides analysis and advice on issues an organisation is concerned with, liaises with both internal and external networks of contacts and develops and reviews policy relating to the rules and principals of the issues accordingly. This position is voluntary.
Complaint Handler
Any person in authority in the club or organisation who may be required to deal with complaints or concerns in the normal course of their duties. Includes committee officers (President, Secretary, ordinary committee members etc), coaches, and officials.
Any formal complaint directed to the Board will be assigned to an appropriate member of the board for investigation. This will be determined on a case by case basis to ensure there are no conflicts of interest and the most suitable member of the board is assigned to handle the case.
President

- Identify growth opportunities for the Association.
- Develop relationships with the local council, the Business community, BNSW, NCAS, local Schools & Universities & neighbouring Basketball Associations to the benefit of Lismore Basketball.
- Represent Basketball effectively to Local Council and the community
- Ensure that members are up to date with all information from BNSW & BA.
- Preside over any meetings when present.
- Ensure all directors fulfil their positions and provide support where needed
- Work with Secretary to set Agenda for meetings
- Be the primary contact person for all employees in consultation with the Board
Vice-President
The role of Vice-President is to assist the President & the other directors with the responsibility of the Association. It is a voluntary position and can not be held in conjunction with any other office bearer position. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Assist President with all duties listed in their description when needed
- Provide support to Directors when needed with their projects
- Act as President in their absence at official events and meetings
Secretary
The Role of Secretary is to be the main organiser for the business of the Board and directly receive & despatch all correspondence and communicate it with the Board. This is a voluntary position and can not be held in conjunction with any other officer bearer position. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Receive all Correspondence and relay it to the Board at a meeting
- Ensure all BNSW & BA guidelines are being followed
- Organise an Agenda in consultation with the President, record minutes for each meeting (including action plans) and distribute information to the Board.
- Distribute Board contact list and maintain this list advising of any changes
- Delegate tasks to other Board members when they need support
Treasurer
The role of Treasurer is to maintain all financial records of the Association and inform the Board of the current financial status of the Association. This position is voluntary and can not be held in conjunction with any other office bearer position. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Keep accurate financial records
- Organise payment for invoices
- Prepare and distribute tax invoices to recuperate fees
- Provide a financial report at each meeting
- Have books audited each year when required
- Maintain accurate records of funds for Junior Representative Coordinator & Senior Representative Coordinator to develop player fees based on team costs.
- Coordinate with Junior & Senior Representative Coordinators and the Sponsorship Committee as to fundraising and Sponsorship opportunities.
Public Officer
The role of Public Officer is to be a direct link to Fair Trading NSW and the Office of Sport to maintain our responsibilities as a not-for-profit organisation. This position is voluntary. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Ensuring the LBAI constitution is lodged and up to date with Fair Trading NSW
- To be in possession of the Seal of the Association and to keep it safe
- To ensure the association is meeting all guidelines according to the Associations Act and our constitution.
- Maintain current Working with Children's list of all Board members, volunteers & employees
- Maintain Key Register for all key holders of the Stadium
- To be the Chairperson for the AGM when all positions are considered vacant and elections and voting is to occur until the position of President is filled.
Registrar
The Registrar is required to maintain all registrations for the Association via GameDay Basketball Network. Their duties include but are not limited to:
- Ensuring all BNSW Registrations are up to date for all active players in the Association both Junior, Senior and Aussie Hoops.
- Coordinate with the Junior & Senior Representative Coordinators to ensure all representative players are registered for the season they are playing.
- Ensure all records are up to date for the members.
- Complete membership renewals for all life members, board members, coaches and managers, ensuring membership remains current at all times.
- Answer member enquiries regarding registrations and Active Kids Vouchers.
Player’s Representative
The primary responsibility of the Player’s Representative of the role is to ensure all relevant decision making includes the voice of players and their best interests, respectively, and provide a communitive link between players and the Board.
The Player Representative will be a representative of all local competition teams and players. Preferably a current player will fill this role. The duties include but are not limited to:
- Be an active member of the Board, as a vital means of communication between the Association’s teams and players and the Board.
- Liaise with players, or parents of players in any matters of concern occurring during a match, training or any other approved activity;
- Maintain a sound knowledge and understanding of the FIBA and Lismore Basketball Association Rules of Competition.
- Convey decisions made by the Directors at meetings, ensuring any information is relayed to players and/or parents in a timely manner.
Merchandise coordinator
The Merchandise Coordinator is the primary contact for all LBA merchandise. This position is voluntary, and the duties include but are not limited to:
- Maintain online store, including updating/adding products, pricing, tracking stock and updating messages for open & closed orders.
- Collate orders received via online store and place orders with suppliers and distribute orders once received from suppliers.
- Fulfil orders for items ordered that are in stock.
- Coordinate with Junior & Senior Representatives to ensure all players order required playing uniforms in time for delivery prior to commencement of seasons.
- Maintain register of Association owned playing singlets and ensure teams and players have required items prior to commencement of seasons.
Policy Officer
The policy officer provides analysis and advice on issues an organisation is concerned with, liaises with both internal and external networks of contacts and develops and reviews policy relating to the rules and principals of the issues accordingly. This position is voluntary.

If there is insufficient interest, members may be selected to take on the position. Ancillary positions report directly to the Board and maybe required to attend meetings from time to time.
Referee Development Officer / Referee Coordinator
The Referee Co-ordinator is responsible for the allocation of referees for all competitions as well as training, education and grading of referees. This position is voluntary, and the duties include but are not limited to:
Junior Representative Coordinator (JRC)
The Junior Representative Coordinator is the primary contact and organiser for all BNSW competitions for Juniors namely Waratah North Eastern Junior League & North Coast Shield. This position is voluntary, and the duties include but are not limited to:
Senior Representative Coordinator (SRC)
The Senior Representative Coordinator is the primary contact and organiser for all Sunshine Conference competitions and Waratah Senior League if applicable. This position is voluntary, and the duties include but are not limited to:
Coaching Coordinator
The Coaching Coordinator is responsible for all coaching related matters for Lismore Basketball Association, works closely with Junior & Senior Representative Coordinators and reports to the Board. The coaching coordinator should form a coaching subcommittee to assist with recruitment, retention and development of coaches for Lismore Basketball Association. This position is voluntary, and the duties include but are not limited to:
Player Development Officer
The player development officer’s main objective is to ensure the continued development, promotion and advancement of junior basketball and players with the club. The aims of the junior development include but are not limited to:
Sponsorship Coordinator
The Sponsorship Coordinator is the primary contact for all LBA sponsorship and fundraising activities. The sponsorship coordinator should form a sponsorship subcommittee to assist with sponsorship and fundraising activities for the Association, Junior Representative, Senior Representative and local competitions. This position is voluntary, and the duties include but are not limited to:
Member Protection Information Officer
The Member Protection Information Officer (MPIO) is responsible for providing information about a member’s rights, responsibilities and options to an individual making a complaint or raising a concern, as well as support during the process. They may reside within the club, the state sports association or national sports organisation. They can also be freelance (not linked directly to the sport). They are NOT a person who investigates matters, advises, or advocates for the complainant.
To hold this position the MPIO is required to have completed within the last 2 years or be willing to complete within 3 months of taking the role, at a minimum Part 1 of the Play by the Rules online training: Member Information Protection Officer Course.

- Coordinate and recruit referees for NEJL & NCS to meet association requirements as per competition guidelines
- Conduct referee courses at various levels to ensure to continued development and recruitment of referees for the association at all levels
Junior Representative Coordinator (JRC)
The Junior Representative Coordinator is the primary contact and organiser for all BNSW competitions for Juniors namely Waratah North Eastern Junior League & North Coast Shield. This position is voluntary, and the duties include but are not limited to:
- Liaise with Basketball NSW directly regarding competitions compliance and report information directly back to the Board
- Follow the Junior Representative Guidelines for forming teams, managers and liaise with coaching coordinator in relation to obtaining coaches
- Recruit players through advertising and other means for all competitions
- Liaise with Merchandise Coordinator regarding merchandise for all representative players & families
- Communicate all BNSW and Board correspondence relevant to teams & managers
- Organise all player entries & transfers to and from other Associations via GameDay The Basketball Network
- Ensure all Coaching credentials are up to date & Working with Children numbers are sent through to Secretary to check.
- Liaise with team managers to organise any training in regard to Scorebench for parents & family
- Assist & work with NCS delegate
Senior Representative Coordinator (SRC)
The Senior Representative Coordinator is the primary contact and organiser for all Sunshine Conference competitions and Waratah Senior League if applicable. This position is voluntary, and the duties include but are not limited to:
- Liaise with Sunshine Conference and work with the Sunshine Conference delegate and relay information back to the Board
- Follow the Senior Representative Guidelines for forming teams & obtaining coaches/managers
- Recruit players through advertising and other means for all competitions
- Organising Merchandise for all representative players & families
- Communicate all Sunshine Conference & Board correspondence relevant to Coaches & Managers
- Organise all player entries & transfers to and from other Associations via GameDay The Basketball Network.
Coaching Coordinator
The Coaching Coordinator is responsible for all coaching related matters for Lismore Basketball Association, works closely with Junior & Senior Representative Coordinators and reports to the Board. The coaching coordinator should form a coaching subcommittee to assist with recruitment, retention and development of coaches for Lismore Basketball Association. This position is voluntary, and the duties include but are not limited to:
- Actively provide guidance and mentoring for all coaches
- Support all coaches through regular contact and communication, including passing along information from BNSW and other coaching resources, answering questions from coaches and liaising with Board and Junior Representative Coordinator as required
- Facilitate regular meetings, inviting all coaches
- Support coaches with respect to any team issues injunction with Junior Representative Coordinator
- Ensure all coaches have appropriate training equipment and liaise with Board in relation to purchase of equipment as required
- Provide information on coach development opportunities
- Arrange coach nominations for NEJL & NCS competitions and organise ratification by Board
- Assisting with representative team trainings if coaches cannot attend
- Arrange coaching courses at various levels to ensure continued development and recruitment of coaches for the association at all levels
Player Development Officer
The player development officer’s main objective is to ensure the continued development, promotion and advancement of junior basketball and players with the club. The aims of the junior development include but are not limited to:
- Seek to provide the best and safest environment for junior players.
- Continue the growth of junior basketball and all levels within the club.
- Promote the club’s junior coaching development philosophy to all coaches and personnel involved in junior basketball.
- Provide all juniors with the best possible opportunity to develop their skills.
- Foster a sense of team spirit and responsibility in junior players.
- Co-ordinate the provision of training and coaching resources to junior coaches and teams.
- Identify those juniors that require specific skill training to assist in their development.
Sponsorship Coordinator
The Sponsorship Coordinator is the primary contact for all LBA sponsorship and fundraising activities. The sponsorship coordinator should form a sponsorship subcommittee to assist with sponsorship and fundraising activities for the Association, Junior Representative, Senior Representative and local competitions. This position is voluntary, and the duties include but are not limited to:
- Maintain and update the LBA sponsorship proposal as required, at least annually.
- Maintain and develop relationships with existing and prospective sponsors.
- Plan and coordinate fundraising activities.
Member Protection Information Officer
